MARC Times Racing News & Midwest Racing Scene has learned that casey2009 Auto City Street Stock Rookie of the Year Casey Snover was involved in a shooting and was critically injured.

Casey was allegedly involved in a confrontation with Mike Stearns, the grandfather of Casey's daughter. Michael J. Stearns, 47, has been charged with assault with intent to murder and weapons charges following the incident.

Reports out of the Davison, Mi racing community are the two got into a headed argument earlier in the evening, that Snover drove to the Stearns home and according to police, as he was leaving the home in his car and was shot by the alleged assailant. Snover was hit in the back and suffered severe injuries to his kidney, liver and gallbladder.

Current reports are Casey is battling for his life after being shot last night in Flint. A member of the Flint racing family visited Casey at the hospital and reported

"Casey was shot in the back last night at this time he is in stable but critical condition. He has undergone one surgery with more possible at a later time. He has damage to his kidney and liver as well as the gallbladder which was removed last night."

The MARC Times Racing News & Midwest Racing Scene would like to remind everyone to keep Casey and his whole family in your thoughts as he is in for a long hard fight.

UPDATE : 1/08/2010 -- MARC Times Racing News & Midwest Racing Scene had the opportunity today to speak with Chris Stearns (son of Mike Stearns) and we were given the Stearns side of this story.

According to Chris, there are several inaccuracies in the MLive.com article and he'd like to set the record straight:

"Our family has hired a lawyer and we are going to defend ourselves to the full extent of the law.  The whole truth will come out, I ask that people not jump to conclusions and think that my Dad is some kind of monster and that Casey is a completely innocent victim."
