An indoor mall racecar show is going to be held at the Rogers Plaza Town Center on 28th Street in Wyoming (Grand Rapids) Michigan on Thursday March 11 through Saturday March 13, 2010.
This event is being organized by longtime short track racing supporter and track photographer from Berlin Raceway Tom Devette. Current plans are to have a variety of racecars on display including both dirt and asphalt circle track cars, drag cars, road course cars and other types of cars from the West Michigan area.
Facilities already confirmed to be participating are Ravenna, Winston, Martin, Thunderbird, Kalamazoo, I-96, Grattan, Crystal, Berlin and with possibly more coming soon!
Entertainment for Saturday is in the works from local high school bands.
A mini trade show within the car show is planned, where the various vendors of auto racing (engines, chassis, tires, fuel, parts etc.) along with representatives from the local race tracks will be available to answer any questions about their business. In addition, an invitation is going out to any of the traveling series that want to attend for the same purpose.
All of this is to give auto racing more exposure for the upcoming season.
West Michigan March of Dimes is the official charity of the gathering with a portion of the proceeds being donated to this good cause.
There will be awards for best appearing cars. Possible help in the cost of the awards will be sought. More information will be announced in the near future as the show develops.
We are looking for volunteers to help us put on this show as the time comes closer for the show. If interested, contact Tom DeVette on Facebook or at his email address:
