“I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet with and hear from Berlin fans,” Hoekstra said. “Race fans are hardworking people who help form our great state of Michigan and have substantive ideas for the future.”

“Race people are a different breed, but very loyal and true to the people that support them,” said Tom Niewiek, owner of the car that will bear the Hoekstra logo. “Pete is going to gain a lot of voters next Tuesday. Race fans treasure their voting.”

“I can’t vote yet but my parents are pretty excited therefore I am also,” said Jay Niewiek, driver of the Hoekstra car. “It’s going to be quite a big race with people coming from all over the state.  There will be a lot of big name people racing and it’s definitely not going to come easy.  It will be tough.”

Berlin Raceway is a premier short track owned by Michael Blackmer. Hoekstra will serve as Grand Marshall for the event. Driver Jay Niewiek, a 17-year-old student at South Christian High School, is a driver in the Champion Racing Association- CRA Super Series.  He has been sponsored by the National Guard and Cordes Trucking for his rookie season.  Nascar drivers Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, AJ Allmendinger and Ross Kenseth will also be racing.  Nascar legend Bill Elliott will be in attendance signing autographs before the race.
