The Angola Motor Speedway played host to the “Triple Threat Main Event” on Saturday night that saw the best racing in a long time at the track. The Budweiser Super Late Model 75, Super Pro 75, and Short Track Trucks 40 headlined the racing card. The house was packed with the largest crowd in a while at the historic 3/8 mile speed plant.

Edgerton, Ohio veteran Jack Landis took the lead on lap one and never looked back as he won the season opening Allstar Performance - Lane Automotive 75 at Angola Speedway. At the half way point it was Landis, Marchiniak, Kugler, Hankosky, and Smith.  On lap 49, two time defending champion Tommy Cook broke a trailing arm and brother Al Cook, Jr. flew off the backstretch to avoid, retiring both cars from the event. On lap 50 Jason Dietsch moved into the top five and on lap 70 he moved past Smith for fourth.  At the finish it was Landis, Marchiniak, Kugler, Dietsch, and Smith.  Derek Bischak finishing sixith. Tommy Cook was the Aluminum Racing Products fast qualifier with a time of 14.55 seconds around the high banked three eights mile track and an average speed of 92.758 miles per hour.

The Budweiser Super Late Model was on table next with a $2,000 to win 75 lap feature that saw six lead changes. Scott “Hurricane” Hantz set fast time out of 23 cars on the property during qualifying. Scott Hantz and John Doering, Jr. battled for the lead and swapped it back and forth for several laps until running into a lapped car damaging his front fender. Doering, Jr. was then off the blistering pace. It looked like Hantz was then going to run away with the race until Jack Landis began to catch him. He was locked in on his rear bumper coming out of turn four and rocketed to the high side but couldn’t get enough a run on the outside and came up short by a half car length giving Hantz the win over Landis followed by Phil Massuch, John Doering, Mike Kugler, Dakota Carlson, Jason Shively, Chad Finley, Dave Stehouwer, and Steve Minich, Jr.,  rounding out the top 10.

The Short Track Trucks saw thirteen trucks in the pit area for their first night of racing that saw some great racing in the 40 lap main event. The race saw former Dwarf Car racer Rob Roney take the checkered flag followed by Keith Wioncek, Scott Sigman, Jim Davis, Paul Schaffer, Jason LaDuke, Dave Parisian, David Stone, Josh Leo, and Johnny Bruno rounding out the top 10. The Short Track Truck will return to the Angola Motor Speedway on Saturday night September 5th.

The Johnny on the Spot Street Stocks saw Tommy Little set fast time in the street stock. The heat race saw Brandon Pulver pick up his first win of the season over Chad Poorman, Larry Henderson, . The 20 lap feature saw Brandon Pulver take the lead early before he began to slow as he had a big lead. Jeremy May gave him a wake up bump, while taking the lead away. Jeremy took the win over hard charging Tommy Little followed by Robbie Henderson, Brandon Pulver, Chad Poorman. During Post race inspection the May Motorsports team couldn’t get the 69 car to meet some weight requirements, so this handed the win to Tom Little .

The Smith Enterprise Mini Stocks saw Taylor Oberlin set fast time on the night. The Everage Auto FWD saw Ronnie Schoffner  set fast time. The Mini Stock heat race saw Matt Morton pick up the win over Andrew Jones. The FWD heat race saw Ronnie Shoffner take the win . The combined 15 lap feature saw some great racing action that saw to two more first time winners. Taylor Oberlin took the checkered in the Smith Enterprise Mini Stock Feature over Matt Morton, Andrew Jones, Dave Hull, and John Sattison rounding out the top five. The Everage Auto FWD portion of the event saw Ronnie Shoffner take the win over Cale Gardner, Tim Myers, and Fuzz rounding out the field.

The next event at the Angola Motor Speedway will be the biggest in track history with the $10,010 Super Late Model Tribute to “The Godfather” Stan Perry. The Superior Auto Mod Squad will be on hand for a 50 lap $1010 to win feature. The Everage Auto FWD drives will be in action as well with a “Run What You Brung” event . It’s expected there will be close to 50 Super Late Models, 30 Modifieds, and 25 FWD cars on the property.

The Angola Motor Speedway is a 3/8 mile high banked oval located in Fremont, Indiana. The speedway has been owned by Dick and Jackie Poe since the 1993 season. For more information please visit http://www.angolamotorspeedway.com or call (260) 495-RACE (7223)!
