Sitting down with Craig Everage, the promoter for 2009 at Angola Motor Speedway, you can see the energy seething out of his body.
"I can't wait for the season to get started" says the former (and sometimes current) Super Late Model racer. "We have the best schedule of races Angola Motor Speedway has ever had".
Everage is talking about his 2009 Wide Open Tour.
Ten race dates, ten big show. Nothing held back. Main Event Series Super Late Models, Super Pro Series, the Stan Perry Memorial race with $10,010 win, CRA Sportsman, Hoss Outlaw Winged Sprints, the list goes on and on. There are not a lot of dates on the schedule, but each date is more then just a race, they are events. Big events. If Everage was in Vegas, he'd be going on in. Not just on himself, but for race fans and race car drivers and owners.
"This is important to me. This is important to our community. I'm an Angola guy. My business is here. My family is here."
Angola Motor Speedway is owned by XXX and has been operated and promoted by various people over the last couple of years.
For 2009 though, its Everage's show and he wants everyone to know that he is going "Wide Open"
"I'm very optimistic about 2009. I wouldn't be putting the highest payouts in Angola Motor Speedway's history if I didn't believe that this was going to be a great year."
This is a comment echoed by track owners all across the Great Lakes Region. Turn off your T.V. and stop listening to the doom-and-gloomers they say. This is going to be a great year and we are going to help make it a great year.
2008 was a tough year for Angola Motor Speedway. No one was probably prepared for the sudden turn in the economy. A couple of bad weather nights and things started to snowball and it just wasn't a very good season.
But Craig Everage is promising that 2009 will be different. "I'm going to do my very best for Angola Motor Speedway, our fans and our drivers. I don't care what anyone outside of Angola thinks. I don't even care how it effects me. This isn't about Craig Everage, its about Angola and Angola Motor Speedway".
His sponsors seem to agree.. Everage has worked diligently all winter to bring Angola's business community together to support the track in 2009. Turkey Creek Outfitters, AM 1140 The Hawk, Piggy's Sports Pub and Nite Club, Shively High Performance, Rapid Raceway, Allstar Performance, Graphics Unlimited and MyPCTeck.com all fully supporting the racers and the racing at Angola Motor Speedway.
Everage's guarantee "You will not be disappointed in what you see at Angola Motor Speedway in 2009"
